More than 30,000 azalea plants bloom across the park's rolling terrain, drawing upward of 50,000 visitors over the festival weekend. Bacone College Historic Campus & Ataloa Lodge Museum
Founded in 1880, Bacone College (2299 Old Bacone Rd, Muskogee, OK 74403) held the distinction of being America's oldest tribal college, established to serve the Five Civilized Tribes of Indian Territory, before it closed and entered Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation in 2024 after years of financial and accreditation troubles. The historic campus on the eastern edge of Muskogee still stands, including the Ataloa Lodge Museum, whose collection of Native American art and artifacts has previously been shown by appointment. Because the college's operations and public access have changed since the closure, groups should confirm current visitor access before planning a stop, and bus drop-off and parking arrangements should be worked out in advance directly with whoever is managing the site at the time of your visit.
